Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about GigMile.

How is the deduction calculated?

GigMile multiplies your logged business miles by the IRS standard mileage rate of $0.70 per mile (2025). This is the amount you can deduct from your taxable income. For example, 10,000 miles × $0.70 = $7,000 deduction.

Are meals deductible?

Generally no. Meals are not deductible for routine local gig work like food delivery or rideshare. They are only deductible in specific business travel situations (overnight trips away from your tax home). GigMile flags this with a warning when you log meal expenses.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your trip and expense data is stored in an encrypted cloud database with row-level security — only you can access your records. We never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Do I need to use a specific platform?

No. GigMile works for any gig platform — DoorDash, Uber, Lyft, Instacart, Amazon Flex, Spark, and any other. You can also select "Other" for custom platforms.

Is GigMile free?

Yes, the core features are completely free — unlimited trip logging, expense tracking, and CSV export. Premium ($4.99/mo or $39.99/yr) adds ad-free experience, PDF IRS-style exports, and advanced reports.

Can I cancel Premium anytime?

Yes, cancel anytime from Settings → Subscription → Manage. Your Premium access continues until the end of the current billing period. No refunds for partial periods.

Does GigMile track miles automatically with GPS?

Not yet — GigMile currently uses manual trip entry, which gives you complete control and works on any device without battery drain. Automatic GPS tracking is on our roadmap for a future update.

Can I use GigMile on my phone?

Yes. GigMile is designed mobile-first with large tap targets and fast entry — built specifically for use between deliveries. It works on any smartphone browser, no app download required.

What if I forget to log a trip?

You can log trips retroactively. Just tap "Log Trip," select the correct date, and enter your miles. The IRS accepts manually logged records as long as they are contemporaneous (logged close to when the trip happened).

Is this tax advice?

No. GigMile is a tracking and organization tool. All deduction amounts shown are estimates based on IRS standard rates and the data you enter. Always consult a licensed CPA or tax professional before filing.
